Emma the Bunny by Kerry Lord

Emma the bunny is the first project made from my Christmas presents, she is from the book Edward’s menagerie by Kerry Lord. It’s a really beautiful book, with lots of lovely crocheted animals, all based on a fairly basic shape using 2 crochet stitches (to start with anyway!). The patterns build in complexity through the book, starting with level 1 animals which include Emma, then level 2 animals which have more colours and complex ears, tails and patterning, and then level 3. I haven’t tried a level 3 pattern so I don’t know how complex that will be. I’m working up to that, and currently am making the Donkey.

I made Emma from vietnamese aran yarn which I had left over from a jumper. She turned out to be a good size - about 8 inches tall when sat down. I found sewing her together to be the hardest part, she is quite wonky - particularly her tail! She is photographed sat on my old forge blanket - pattern by Stephen West.
